George H. Morris Clinic at Beverly Equestrian

The team at Beverly Equestrian is thrilled to welcome back legendary horseman and coach George H. Morris to their facility in The Plains, Virginia from Sept. 28-30, 2018. Morris has been conducting his first-rate clinics at Beverly Equestrian for a number of years, and is looking forward to making his return this year as he continues his quest to teach the present and future generations of equestrian athletes.

George H. Morris

A lifelong horseman, Morris is passionate about educating riders and giving them the necessary tools to bring out the best in every horse. At only 14 years old, Morris achieved equestrian stardom when he was the youngest rider to win the ASPCA Maclay Horsemanship Finals and the AHSA Hunt Seat Equitation Medal Finals in 1952. Since then, Morris has ridden to numerous titles and awards including a team gold medal in the 1959 Pan American Games and a team silver medal in the 1960 Olympic Games in Rome.

Morris’ talent in the saddle is matched by his ability to effectively coach riders of all levels and from a variety of disciplines. In the past, his students have earned medals in Olympic Games and had numerous Nation’s Cup victories.

Beverly Equestrian is a premiere training and boarding facility conveniently located in The Plains, Virginia, just 15 minutes away from Middleburg, the heart of Virginia’s Hunt Country. The facility includes a 100 x 200 foot heated indoor arena accessible through the main barn with state-of-the-art, dust-free footing, an outdoor jumping ring, dressage arena, derby field, cross country field and galloping track. This top-notch venue is the ideal facility to host one of Morris’ clinics.

The three-day clinic will feature three groups of riders starting with the 3’6″ group from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., followed by the 3′ riders from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The final session of riders will jump 2’6″ and will ride from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. The cost to ride in the clinic is $995 and auditing is available for $85 per day. There will also be copies of Morris’ latest autobiography, Unrelenting: The Real Story: Horses, Bright Lights, and My Pursuit of Excellence, available for purchase and signing at the clinic.

Coupled with his extensive knowledge of the sport, Morris also instills the values of good horsemanship at all of his clinics. A limited number of riders accepted in each session allows for an intimate training experience with Morris. Riders and auditors are accepted on a first come, first serve basis, so those interested in this lifetime opportunity should register as soon as possible.
