Thelma and Louise

What’s your story? We have been a bonded pair ever since we can remember. In our younger years, we were Amish buggy mules but we were not treated well at all even though we performed our jobs. It was scary and we were traumatized. We almost lost our lives at a slaughter auction in Pennsylvania. Luckily a local Virginia woman found us at the auction and saved our lives. A group of people organized to find us a safe place to stay but it was not a permanent home.

What do you like about MHF? Someone reached out to MHF asking if we could live there, and they said yes! We have a nice pasture and run-in shed and see lots of other equines. They speak to us gently and we are slowly learning to trust humans.

What is your best feature? We are very health, have naturally great feet and would be able to do anything, with the right training and handling.

If you were likened to a celebrity, who would you be? It’s not Susan Sarandon and Geena Davis in Thelma & Louise! We are still here and they drove off a cliff. Did you know there is an alternative ending for that movie?

Do you follow a special diet? No, we don’t have a special diet.

If you had one wish what would it be? We had a lot of trauma in our past and need an experienced, loving and patient mule person to work with us! We are only 11 and dream of a long, happy life with someone. ML
