Popular Pet Festival Returns to Village at Leesburg on Saturday, May 3

Families and furry friends are invited to join the fun and full schedule of activities, including a pet talent contest.
LEESBURG, VA — Village at Leesburg (located on Route 7 just east of Leesburg, VA) will hold its popular annual Pet Festival on Saturday, May 3, from noon until 4 p.m. The event takes place on the Village at Leesburg plaza (in front of 1602 Village Market Boulevard SE, Leesburg, VA). Well-mannered pets on leashes are not only welcome but encouraged. The first 300 guests to stop by the Village at Leesburg tent will receive a free branded pet item.
Enjoy a day full of tail-wagging fun with a wide array of pet exhibitors, rescue adoption organizations, a lure coursing course, balloon artist, caricaturist, and more. The event is still accepting applications for pet vendors, nonprofit pet organizations, and event sponsors. Anyone interested in participating in the Pet Festival is encouraged to contact Shelby Lofton at [email protected]. Registration for all applicants closes on April 11.
The Leesburg’s Got Talent Pet Edition will take place on the main stage from 2 to 3 p.m., sponsored by pet supply retailer Wiggle Butt and Whiskers. The competition is free and features three levels and an opportunity for your pet to show off their tricks. The levels include novice (30 seconds) basic commands like sit, stay, down; intermediate (30 seconds) mid-level training with more than just basic commands; and advanced (60 seconds) fully trained pets, including service dogs. For more information and to register, visit Eventbrite. Registration closes on May 2 at noon.
“We are looking forward to this year’s Pet Festival,” said Shelby Lofton, marketing manager with Rappaport, the company that oversees the center. “The event continues to grow annually and has become a signature event for Village at Leesburg that allows us to showcase our pet and family-friendly center while also finding forever homes for local furry friends in need.”
To date, animal rescue organizations signed up include Bobbie’s Pit Bull Rescue, Chesapeake Area Alaskan Malamute Protection, Humane Society of Loudoun County, K9 Lifesavers, Loudoun County Animal Services, Fierce Love Rescue, Middleburg Humane Foundation, Echo Barkery, Furever Home Rescue, and Homeward Trails Animal Rescue. These organizations will greet attendees and showcase animals they have for adoption.
“This is a great event for those looking for a new pet,” Lofton added. “There are a lot of rescues where attendees can see a variety of animals available for adoption.”
