Happy New Year: Stone Springs Hospital Center just east on Rt. 50, welcomed its first baby of the new year. A baby girl was born at 8:50 a.m. on Jan. 1. She was delivered by Dr. Ayoub, weighed 6 pounds, 7 ounces, and is 19 inches long.
From Leesburg: The Westmoreland Davis Memorial Foundation Board of Trustees has approved the selection of Stephanie Kenyon as the new executive director of Morven Park.

In Middleburg: Ashley M. Bott is the new town treasurer. Bott has more than 15 years of experience in accounting administration and customer service and holds a bachelor’s degree in finance from George Mason University. Mayor Betsy Davis said, “She’ll be a great addition to our well-respected town staff. I thank Vice-Mayor Darlene Kirk and the staff who served with her on the recruitment team for the great job they did to bring us such a strong final group of candidates to interview.”
In West Virginia: Hollywood Casino at Charles Town Races has sent word that Paul Espinosa has taken the reins in the announcer’s booth. The Charles Town native had been an occasional fill-in behind the microphone as the track conducted its search for a new full-time announcer.
A graduate of West Virginia University, he’s appeared on camera while serving as the paddock show host and analyst for Charles Town’s event days since 2009 and also was a sports reporter and later sports director for NBC’s Hagerstown affiliate, WHAG. In his most recent racing endeavor, Espinosa worked for the Horse Racing Radio Network on its coverage team for the Breeders’ Cup World Championships.
From Millwood: Project HOPE applauded 50 lifesaving years of the University Children’s Hospital of Krakow, where the global NGO has worked for over four decades to help treat the medical needs of the children of southern Poland and support the hospital’s role as a center for pediatric research and education for Central and Eastern Europe.
