Goose Creek Association Celebrates at Annual Spring Party

MARSHALL, VA — The Goose Creek Association hosted its annual Spring Party on Thursday, April 25, 2024, at the stunning Poke farm owned by Trevor Potter and Dana Westring in Marshall. The event celebrated the association’s valued members and volunteers and highlighted the accomplishments of its dedicated board members over the last year.

Guests had the opportunity to stroll through the remarkably beautiful gardens of Poke, meticulously designed by Westring. The evening began with organization co-chairs Lori Keenan McGuinness of Fauquier County and Ted Lewis of Loudoun County reflecting on the association’s accomplishments in 2023.

Among the achievements discussed was the successful riparian buffer program led by board member Dulany Morison. Additionally, funds were gained for the benthic stream monitoring program, thanks to the efforts of board members Norman Myers and Karl Kelley. The association also made significant strides in gaining environmental concessions from data centers along the Goose Creek.

A highlight of the evening was the presentation of the annual Golden Goose Award to Julie Bolthouse, Piedmont Environmental Council’s director of land use. Bolthouse was recognized for her tireless efforts in protecting Fauquier County and the Goose Creek watershed. Keenan McGuinness praised Bolthouse as the association’s “go-to” person for accurate information and boundless energy.

“It’s inspiring to see the dedication and passion of our members,” said Keenan McGuinness. “Their commitment to preserving the beauty and integrity of the Goose Creek watershed is truly remarkable.”
