MCS “CHRISTMAS SERENADE “WILL HONOR RICHARD KIRK

The Middleburg Concert Series will complete its fourth successful season on December 16th with a Christmas concert dedicated to long time MCS supporter and avid music lover Richard Kirk who passed away last December. The Christmas concert is made possible by the generous underwriting of major sponsors BCT Bank of Charlestown and Ann MacMahon, Sheridan-MacMahon Realtors.

Entitled “A Christmas Serenade” the concert will feature guest artists soprano Rebecca Kellerman, classical guitarist Candice Mowbray, and pianist /organist Marilyn Shenenberger with Artistic Director Dr. Alan Saucedo (cello), Dr. Maryory Serrano and Cynthia Saucedo (violin), and Miho Sato and Karen Chase (voice). The artists will perform a wide variety of pieces ranging from classical music by composers such as Faure, Franck and Holst to traditional Christmas favorites such as ”O Holy Night,” “The Christmas Song” and “Mary Did You Know”. The concert will open with a dedication to Richard Kirk with the performance of a selection from “Phantom of the Opera”. gton Street (corner Pendleton), Middleburg ,VA followed by a “Meet the Artists Reception” sponsored by well-known caterers Savoir Fare. Admission to both the concert and reception is free. Donations are welcome.

Vocalist Rebecca Kellerman has extensive experience as a soloist and chorister in works ranging from medieval to 21 st century. She has performed various roles in operas as well as vocal performances in works by composers such as Handel, Vivaldi and Bach. She holds a masters degree in choral arts from Shenandoah University. Classical guitarist Candice Mowbray is esteemed by colleagues and audiences for her beautiful tone and sensitive music. She has been a featured soloist with the National String Symphonia, the Maryland Symphony Orchestra and the Sartori Chamber Ensemble. She is also an adjunct professor of guitar studies at the Levine School of Music, the St James School and Shenandoah University. Pianist/organist Marilyn Shenenberger is a seasoned and innovative music professional. Both accompanist and arranger, she has written several books providing vocal intonation exercises and choral warm ups for vocalists She holds a masters degree in choral conducting from Westminster Choir College and a bachelors degree form Lebanon Valley College in music education. She is currently Director of Music at Faith United Presbyterian Church in Medford N.J.
