NVTRP and the Mars Great Meadow International
NVTRP | August 6, 2019
Northern Virginia Therapeutic Riding Program is thrilled to be partnering with the MARS Great Meadow International (MGMI) to help share the power of therapeutic riding and equine-assisted therapies.
The MGMI is a family and dog-friendly event that features Olympic-level riders and horses in what can best be described as an equestrian triathlon: a single horse and rider combine and compete against other combinations across the three disciplines of dressage, cross-country, and show jumping.
Competition will take place August 22nd to August 25th at Great Meadow in the Plains (the site for NVTRP’s Ride to Thrive Polo Classic!). On Friday, August 23rd, our very own physical therapist Sydney Sawyer, Program Director Olivia Taylor, and NVTRP rider, Cameron Peterson, will be giving a lunchtime demonstration in the main Fleming Farm Arena, and fielding questions from MGMI guests.
Teddy—our miniature horse mascot—will be delighting MGMI’s young and young-at-heart guests in the adjacent Meadow Market on Friday and Saturday. With a little help from NVTRP staff and volunteers he will be leading a series of children’s hands-on horsemanship activities.
Weekend passes are $20 per person and include general parking, admission to the venue and the Meadow Market vendor village, featuring live entertainment, a beer garden, food truck offerings, and family-friendly games (including Teddy!).
Premier hospitality packages, including tailgates and tables in the VIP pavilion are also available. You can learn more and purchase tickets here: https://www.greatmeadowinternational.com/
