Salamander Resort & Spa will “Rock the Red” and publicly display the Stanley Cup Trophy on Monday, December 10 to celebrate the 2018 NHL Champion Washington Capitals.
In celebration of the team’s first championship, the resort will provide photo opportunities with the legendary trophy for the first 50 groups that show up, while collecting items for local charities. The resort also will offer a variety of programming including a “Rock the Red”celebration at Gold Cup Wine Bar, adult hot chocolate station, and a hockey shootout competition. All attendees are encouraged to wear red, while the Capitals flag will be flown over the property.
Resort Owner Sheila Johnson, who also is vice president of Monumental Sports & Entertainment – the Capitals ownership group, will begin the program with a short welcome at 8:30 p.m.
“It is so important for me to publicly display this amazing trophy and to celebrate the Washington Capitals’ amazing achievement with Middleburg,” said Johnson. “I thank the NHL for allowing us to bring the Stanley Cup to our town, and I’m thrilled that the Loudoun County community and our resort team members have an opportunity to create memories, while also collecting items for two worthy causes.
The three-foot-high trophy will be available for photography in the resort’s Living Room from 8:45 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. for the first 50 groups. Doors will open at 7 p.m. at which time groups will be assigned a number to guarantee a photo timeslot. To obtain a number, fans must bring a canned good or toy donation which will benefit the Seven Loaves Food Bank or Toys for Tots. The resort encourages attendees to arrive early to secure a timeslot. After the first 50 groups, photography will be permitted as time allows.
Salamander Resort & Spa will continue the celebration with a variety of programming, including:
7:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. – “Rock the Red” in Gold Cup Wine Bar
o A festive celebration greets fans with $6 hamburgers, $5 drafts and $5 rail cocktail specials. A specialty ice luge from Belvedere will serve the “Rock the Red” cocktail, and the outdoor terrace will feature Capitals holidays cookies and an adult hot chocolate bar with all the toppings ($14 per adult hot chocolate, $5 for non-alcoholic). All guests wearing red will be entered into two different raffles: one for dinner for two at Harrimans and the other a meal for two at Gold Cup.
7:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. – Hockey Shoot Out Competition
o Taking place on the resort’s terrace, players will receive three chances to score and if they score one goal, they will receive a resort water bottle. All participants will be entered into a raffle for the first place prize of a one-night stay in a resort suite. Second place prize is a dinner for two in Harrimans, while third place prize is lunch for two in Gold Cup.
