Wegmeyer Farms Announces “Virginia is for Strawberry Lovers” Campaign

“Virginia is for Lovers” is a very recognizable slogan. Over time, there have been sub-branded mottos to characterize specific elements that Virginians hold dear. On May 24, Wegmeyer Farms unveiled Virginia Tourism Corporation’s new spinoff slogan, “Virginia is for Strawberry Lovers,” at a Berry Important Person reception at their farm in Hamilton. The Wegmeyer team hopes the initiative will encourage everyone in the area to appreciate the month of May as the start of the strawberry season.

The fresh, delicious strawberries at Wegmeyer Farms are a Loudoun favorite and online tickets sell fast. Beyond locally, the slogan honors all Virginia farms who share the same passion for fresh and local produce each season. Owners Tyler and Harriet Wegmeyer said they want to recognize all strawberry farmers and the rich agricultural communities that exist in Virginia.

In addition to the slogan reveal, the event had one more important and exciting piece of news for strawberry fans. The Wegmeyers announced that they’ll be expanding to Lincoln and revealed the dates for the 2024 Lincoln Strawberry Festival, which will take place May 18-19. Attendees can anticipate “hometown fun” including pie eating contests, strawberry picking, live music, ice cream, and more. The goal is to raise money for local community organizations and nonprofits through festival ticket sales.

Wegmeyer Farms began in 2002 and opened the u-pick strawberry fields in 2009. Locations to pick strawberries include the historic Oatlands plantation and the farm in Hamilton. Only one reservation per family is required, which includes the first bucket of u-pick strawberries. Currently the Oatlands Plantation is the only field available for u-pick.
